Passion Project Aims To Help Moms Love Their Bodies, Unlike Kim Kardashian

Most of you have probably seen photos of a very greased-up and naked Kim Kardashian across the internet the last few days - despite her best efforts to break it.

If you had not until now, you were lucky.

Don't get me wrong, I have to give her props as her body looks amazing and she honestly looks HAPPY in all of the pics - but while her smile may be real, DAT ASS is not.

Hello, smoothed out, reshaped, tweaked, lightened, minimized and enhanced version of Kim Kardashian. So nice to meet you!

And YES,  you can argue that Photoshopping happens all the time and almost every image we see of a woman in a magazine is altered in some way, but this most recent stint is contributing to a very real problem the average woman who is not airbrushed or Photoshopped on a daily basis faces each day, especially those of us who have given birth.

We look in the mirror when we step out of the shower and our body isn't flawless. We have stretch marks. We have love handles. We have scars from the emergency C-section that saved our child's life. We look at the reflection and start to think less of ourselves because nearly every photo we see of a woman in a magazine shows something we're not, and some of us even begin to wonder if we'll ever measure up.

Lisa Druxman, Founder and CEO of Fit4Mom, has spent decades helping women become healthier physically without the use of Photoshop, or even plastic surgery. Now she's working to help women in all stages of life to have a healthier image of their bodies by dropping the unattainable "perfect body" image the media and Kim Kardashian portray above.

Her new Passion Project series aims to help moms, new and old, change the way they view their bodies after childbirth.

This topic really hits home for me, as I've been striving to let go of my own negative views of my body the last few months by tackling my issues from the inside out.

Check out the diverse group of moms featured in the first video below -  including Judy, a 70-year old grandmother, Rebecca, a mom of two tweens, and Izzy, mom, and founder of Surf Diva.

Lisa says that the inspiration behind this first video in her Passion Project series is the thousands of women that she has helped to get their bodies healthy, but who still had feelings of insecurity when it came to their post-baby bodies.

“For many women, no matter how hard they work out and how they transform their bodies, it is never enough,” says Druxman. “We are role models for our children, and if we want them to be healthy, confident and comfortable in their skin, we have to be in ours. It starts with us.”

For over 20 years, Druxman has helped women transform their bodies. “My hope is that moms stop comparing themselves to others and to unrealistic images. I hope that they start enjoying their bodies now and stop waiting for the never attainable “perfect” body,” says Druxman. “Because we are all beautiful now. It’s not enough to re-tone our bodies…we must also retune our minds.”

This new passion project is just one of several in a series of videos to be produced by Fit4Mom. The next video to be released will feature Druxman revealing her own personal struggles with body image.

Lisa is right when she suggests, "Maybe it's time you start seeing yourself through the eyes of your children... because they see you as beautiful."

Someone pass the Kleenex.
